If you have been coming here long enough, you know I’m not a gal that minces her words. Today will be no different.
Every day I sit in front of my laptop and gather information. I don’t own a TV so that method of brainwashing doesn’t exist for me, but the internet isn’t that much different from the box. At least with the internet I have more control of the crap I see. So let’s just call the television (laptop, iPad, etc) what it really is – a distraction from the reality of your own life and an opportunity for big companies to sell you their shit. The more television you watch, the more “hot pockets” you want to eat and the more you want to look like today’s Hollywood star(let). You’ve lost control and you don’t even know it.
Wake up sheeple.
As I continue to educate myself about foods and how they affect us I see two consistent and reoccurring themes.
- Low Self Esteem
Food addiction, EVEN FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE WEIGHT ISSUES, is real. Some just succumb to the addictions on a higher scale than others. What I believe triggers people who get fatter and unhealthier than others has nothing to do with food and everything to do with an enormous lack of self-love.
BELIEVE me, I have heard EVERY single excuse in the book on why people CAN’T take care of themselves. You know them well because you’ve told them to yourself repeatedly. (As have I in before I took control)
- I don’t have enough time (and a million other versions of this same excuse).
- Healthy food is too expensive .
- My kids won’t eat that and I can’t cook separate food for everyone in the family.
- My husband is a meat and potatoes man. He won’t eat anything else.
Blah, blah, blah.
We self-abuse on all sorts of levels. Yes. We. Do. But of all the ways we abuse ourselves, this one is my all-time favorite. I used to wield this one pretty heavily.
I work hard, I deserve THIS treat.
Really? You are rewarding yourself with food/alcohol/recreational drugs that are greatly detrimental to your well –being? That’s how you pat yourself on the back?
This is the bottom line…
If you believe that you deserve to live a good quality of life you will find the time, the money and the back bone you need to make it all happen.
If you do NOT believe that you deserve better, you will never get better.
I know each and every one of you has the ability to feel good enough to do it, otherwise the Monday diet syndrome wouldn’t exist. People wouldn’t start trying over and over and over again if there wasn’t some spark of joy buried under the layers of sadness we pack onto our bodies to protect us from the pain.
NOTHING started to change in my life until I found myself worthy of the rewards.
So it’s not always about just the food, kids. The buck stops with YOU. You must come first. You must love yourself enough to demand better. F@#k what everyone else thinks about what you’re doing and go get the life YOU want. Don’t wait for it to get dumped on your lap.
GO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
