Wow, wow and WOW again.
As many of you know I was on a cleanse for a week and I went from that DIRECTLY into Hurricane Isaac and six subsequent days from hell punctuated by no electricity, lots of physical labor, some really horrific eating habits, and some churning PTSD that unexpectedly kicked my ass. I put my game face on and stepped up to the plate, packed up my kitchen and my office and then had a full week of meetings in Pensacola. In the final minutes of my time in Pensacola I made some bad choices with moving my body that resulted in me resurrecting an old sciatica injury that now has me “enjoying” limited movement.
So why am I telling you all this? Because while I was laid up today I got two phone calls from folks who wanted to talk about their health and how food is changing how they feel and live their lives. Both had “tripped” up a bit during the hurricane and the end result was BAD. You would have to be made of steel not to succumb to that stress. But here’s the deal. Both had profound experiences when they realized how crappy they felt after indulging in junk food after eating so clean for an extended period of time. Cheryl has been on a cleansing journey for several weeks now, and Lance has been living a substantially healthier food lifestyle for almost a year. Both were shocked when they realized how down and out crappy they felt after just a few days of foods from the Standard American Diet.
I too made some crappy choices and wound up on that bad side of things. But here is the reality check. You are HUMAN. You are going to have to step off occasionally. Stress does some pretty horrible things to the system and if the worst thing that happens to you is you choose to put a band aid on it with a box of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, that’s OK! Just pick yourself up and get back on the horse as soon as you possibly can and pat yourself on the back for doing so.
I’m sure I’m gonna get some flack for this post, but unlike a lot of people who live at extremes with strict rules and regulations about what they put in their mouth, I live in a real world and I give myself permission to have weak moments. Nothing drives me back to healthy food like the results I get from eating bunch of crap.
You continue to inspire, delight, and encourage me! I am SO proud of US!
I’m proud of US too. MUah.
