I have an amazing food muse named Willie and he lives in Auburn, Alabama. This weekend he came through New Orleans and dropped of a basket of some of his own home grown heirloom tomatoes at my place. They are called “chocolate” tomatoes. Due to some stressful growing environments they were cracked in a bunch of places but as he said with his heavy accent, “you jest cut the good part off those babies from around those dry cracks and I can guar-rahntee you you won’t be disappointed.” He wasn’t lying.
For lunch today I made a quick SUPER SIMPLE salad with these beauties.
Sliced Tomatoes
Slice Avocado
Drizzle with 10 year old balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste.
Summer lingers………….
